Visiting RHS Tatton Park Show 17th to 21st July 2019
If you want flowers, sustaining wildlife, self sufficiency or just a good day out to inspire you then RHS Tatton is a great place to go.
The school gardens were also innovative and well executed. It was great to see the parents and children sharing the endeavours. For wow factor head to the exhibition produce and the growers in the flower tents - stunning masses of colour and admiration for those who put together the immaculate displays. And the scent…!
Highlights from last year included: Rudbeckia hirta 'Prairie Sun' in the Sunshine Field
National Tomato Week
Novice Gardener's Delight
Tomato plants have a really distinct smell. There is something inordinately pleasing and earthy and, well, fresh about the smell you get if you gently rub your hand on the leaves of a tomato plant.
So, this year I am trying my hand at growing my own.I went cheap-skate and bought three sad, half dead baby plants from the local garden centre to see if I could rescue them. The ‘Gardener’s delight’ is doing well!
National Gardening Week
Interested in growing your own food? Then give it a go during National Gardening week, 29th April to 5th May, annual event run by RHS (Royal Horticultural Society). They have lots of ideas; plotting your patch or concocting your container, from creating wildlife habitats for hedgehogs to making a compost heap to improve your soil. Other organisations and gardens all over 'Edible Britain' are staging events and activities so look out for your local news for advice and inspiration. Grow micro greens on your windowsill, beans on your balcony or beetroot in the borders ( the leaves are colourful and you can eat them too in salads!)
Share your ideas or event on our facebook page, or tweet @JustSeedLtd we'd love to know how you are getting on.
