This interesting aromatic plant produces a strong smell of chocolate detectable a few metres away. It has silvery leaves and bears vibrant yellow flowers in early summer which are followed by seed heads that can be dried.
Sow directly in April to May after the last frost. Prepare the seedbed by loosening soil to a depth of 20cm and removing weeds. Sow seeds and just cover with soil, keeping them moist until germination occurs. Germination takes 30-90 days. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to 45cm apart.
