Lemon Grass - Cymbopogon Flexuosus
This East Indian variety of lemon grass is a good substitute for the classic Thai Lemongrass for culinary purposes. This aromatic subshrub is quick-growing, and grows up to 50cm. It features pretty flowers in whorls up the stem. Its essential oil is also an antiseptic.
Sow in pots February to March, and plant out when big enough in a sunny position. It can also be grown in pots on the window sill.
