Green Mint is grown for its aromatic foliage. The best strain from seed, this hardy perennial grows to 40cm. Mints have many culinary and medicinal uses, and can be used in salads, mint sauce, iced tea and pimms!
Sow outdoors in a confined area, in May, with thin to 20 cm spacing. It can also be sown all year round in pots on the window sill. Mint likes rich, moist soil and can be grown in partial shade. It is very invasive, so should be confined in a pot or a separate area. Pick the leaves as required, which are best used fresh. Pinch out the tip of the main stem to encourage bushy growth.
