Calendula Officinalis - Pot Marigold
It is a cheerful cottage garden annual also known as "poor man's saffron". The petals can be used to give saffron colour and a light tangy flavour to rice, fish soups or omelettes.
Sow from March to June direct in the final position for a great display of colour from May onwards. Also sow in the autumn for an early display in the spring.
