Winter Savory (evergreen) is a dwarf, bushy hardy perennial that grows to 25 cm, with lilac flowers. Its aromatic leaves can be used for flavouring pea, bean and lentil dishes. Introduced by the Romans, it is valued for its fragrant foliage and is also attractive to bees.
Sow outdoors, in drills, in April/ May, with thin to 20 cm spacing. It tolerates most garden soils and conditions, if drainage is good.
