Beet Leaf Chard - Rainbow Mixed
This vegetable brings colour to the vegetable garden. This is a lovely mixture of various coloured stems and leaves that can be used as baby leaf for salads, and is delicious cooked when fully grown.
Sow from March to May direct in the growing site, 2cm deep in rows 35-40cm apart. Do not transplant seedlings. As the seedlings appear, gradually thin until plants are 20cm apart. Leaves are ready about 10 weeks after sowing. This is not just a pretty face but a highly nutritious vegetable. Leaves can be used as spinach, and its ribs cooked lightly and served with butter.
