This variety produces jet-black flowers on bushy, free-flowering plants that grow to height of around 15cm. It is ideal for baskets, containers or bedding displays.
Sow either from February to March, or from June to September. Sow on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays, covering lightly with vermiculite. Keep at a temperature of 15-20C to aid germination, which takes around 14-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 23cm apart, or plant into containers. For September sowings, overwinter in a cold frame and then plant out in the spring.
