Climbing French Bean - Cobra

Cobra is a early producing, black seeded variety. The pods produced are about 7mm in diameter, long and straight and can be harvested over a long period. They can be used for indoor or outdoor production. The beans are the tastiest of all French Beans. Climbing beans such as this variety should be supported, much like you would support runner beans.

Sow from April to June. Early sowings can be made under glass at a temperature of 16°C, sow 3 seeds per 8cm pot filled with seed sowing compost. Outside sowings can be made from May onwards into the growing site 5cm deep. Sow 2-3 seeds every 20cm apart with rows spaced 60cm apart. Seedlings sown under glass should be gradually hardened off before planting outside in late May to the above spacing, once all risk of frost has past. Provide support by canes or netting for plants to climb. Water regularly during dry weather. Ready to harvest from July to September.
