Alyssum - Saxatile Compactum
Alyssum Saxatile Compactum produces a carpet of lovely, deep golden flowers from April to June. The spreading habit of this plant makes it perfect for the border edge or to cascade and tumble down walls, and will bloom over a long period. This flower is great for pollinators such as bees so makes for a great addition to any garden. The height of the plant is approximately 30cm.
Sow from March to May in trays under glass at 18°C or later in trays in a cold frame. Seedlings in trays should be pricked off into pots or trays 5cm (2") apart. Plant out in borders or rockeries, 45cm apart. Trim plants with shears after flowering to encourage new blooms the following year. Flowers from April to June the following year.
