Salvia - Blaze of Fire
Although salvias tend to be a later flowering type than other bedding plants, it is worth the wait for their brilliant vivid scarlet, spikes of flowers.
Sow from February to March. Sow in pots or trays in a good compost under glass at 21-24°C. Cover the seeds lightly with sieved compost and keep moist. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays 5cm apart. Grow on and gradually harden off for planting in the flowering site in late May, 25cm apart. Flowers from July onwards.
