Sweet Cicely - Myrrhis Odorata
This herb features bright green lacey foliage and white flowers in spring. The leaves are a natural sweetener that removes acidity from stewed fruits.
Sow outside in the autumn. It may be grown in any good moist garden soil in a site which has partial sun/shade. The seed will not germinate without several months of exposure to low temperatures or stratification. The seeds need to be stratified before planting; stratification is artificially overcoming the seeds’ dormancy. This can be done by folding a piece of kitchen paper towel, moistening it and then placing the seeds in between. This will then need to be kept in a cool climate. You will also need to ensure the towel does not dry out.
