Green Manure - Fenugreek
Fenugreek is grown mainly to increase humus content. It is a quick growing, which suppresses weeds, but is slower to flower than mustard. Fenugreek isn't a nitrogen fixer.
Sow the seed from March to August. Broadcast at 4gms per square metre or in shallow rows 15cm apart. It takes around 10 weeks to grow. Fenugreek is suited to moist soils, but should be well-drained. Dig in any time up to flowering.
