Polyanthus - Pacific Giants
Carefully selected from prime plants, this strain produces extra-large flowers on strong stems in bold solid colours. It makes a superb pot plant and grows to a height of 25-30cm.
Sow in June/July on the surface of lightly firmed seed compost in pots or trays. Keep at a temperature of between 15-20C. Do not exclude light and keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Germination will usually take 14-30 days. As soon as you see the seed start to germinate, lightly cover the seeds with vermiculite. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into pots or trays, and gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions in a cold frame or sheltered part of the garden for a few weeks. Then plant out in the autumn in borders spaced 15cm apart or plant into containers for autumn/spring colour.
