Salad Leaves - Crispy Lettuce Blend
This is a cheap and easy way to grow your own salads at home. It is a delicious mix of tasty leaves that can be grown outdoors throughout summer or on your windowsill during winter.
Sow outdoors or in containers. Before sowing, prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones. Make shallow channels (drills) in the soil 23cm apart. Alternatively fill a container with multi-purpose compost. Sow very thinly, 1cm deep in the drills. Lightly cover with soil. Alternatively scatter seeds over the surface or a compost filled container and lightly cover with more compost. Thin seedlings only if necessary to 6mm apart. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Keep the plants cool and moist to prevent running to seed.
