Parsnip - Countess
This is an excellent flavoured variety with smooth, white skin and flesh that keeps its colour after washing. The roots will keep very well in the ground over a long harvest period.
Sow outdoors. Before sowing, prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones. Make shallow channels (drills) in the soil 30cm apart. Sow clusters of 3-4 seeds, every 20cm along the drills 1cm deep. Lightly cover the seeds with soil. Thin out the plants to a single seedling, at each cluster, when they are large enough to handle.
