Aubergine - Pot Black F1 Hybrid
This variety is aptly named producing shiny, almost round shaped, very dark purple skinned, bitter fruits, approx 80g in weight. Crops abundantly over many weeks, fruits can also be picked when small as a true 'baby vegetable'. It is an ideal container plant, 50cm tall, compact habit with spineless stems and calyces. Perfect for grilling or sliced thinly onto pizza.
Sow seed on the surface of the compost, and cover with a sprinkling of dry vermiculite or finely sieved compost. Place the seed and tray in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag and keep at around 18-21C until the seeds germinate. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 7.5cm pots or multi-cell trays. Plant out into a 25cm pot or 3 plants per grow bag or outdoors allowing 45cm between plants, once frost risk has passed.
