Leek - Neptune
This British bred leek produces upright, long, thick, white stems with healthy, dark blue-green leaves. The plants show excellent winter hardiness and stand until late February during most winters. The leaves also show some tolerance to rust.
Before sowing, prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones. Make shallow channels (drills) in the soil 30cm apart. Carefully lift the seedlings when large enough to handle and transplant to 25cm apart in the row and 45cm between rows, using a trowel or dibber. Earth up stems to increase the length of the blanched stem.
