Poppy - Beauty Of Livermere
These are great, robust border poppies that you can enjoy every year. Almost like a cornfield poppy on steroids, their giant red blooms put on a superb show from late spring.
Sow seed on the surface of the compost and do not cover as the seeds require light to germinate. Place the seed and tray in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag and keep at around 15-18C until the seeds germinate. This can take 10-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant each seedling into a 7.5cm pot or multi-cell tray. Before planting out acclimatise the plants to cooler conditions by putting them outside for a few hours a day for a few weeks. Plant out when all risk of frost has gone about 30cm apart.
