Organic Coriander - Cilantro
This is a quick growing, dual purpose annual herb that is grown for its seeds or fresh young leaves. Coriander seeds are delicious in cakes, and when crushed add an orangey flavour to meat dishes. The young leaves of coriander can be finely chopped and added to curies, sauces, chutneys and salads. Height: 60cm. Spread: 25cm.
March to August outdoors, directly into well prepared soil in full sun. Sow thinly 13mm deep, in rows 30cm apart, and later thin the seedlings to 23cm apart. Alternatively, sow indoors in pots on the windowsill for fresh leaves virtually all year round. Plants can quickly run to flower if not kept watered and regular sowings are required for a constant supply.
