Cabbage - Jersey Wakefield
With a compact habit with few wasted outer leaves, Cabbage 'Jersey Wakefield' can planted closely making it ideal for smaller gardens. The firm, conical, pale green hearts are tender and flavoursome - delicious used raw in salads and coleslaw. This heritage variety is a fine summer cabbage that stands well throughout summer. Height: 30cm. Spread: 40cm.
Sow from March to July at 4 week intervals. Sow seed thinly in well-prepared seedbed, 1cm deep in drills 23cm apart. Plant out to 30cm apart each way when large enough to handle, about 5 weeks from sowing. Water regularly, especially in dry periods. Hoe between plants as required.
