Carrot - Royal Chantenay 2
This variety is perfect for heavier soils and containers. The small, conical roots of Carrot 'Royal Chantenay' have broad shoulders and strong foliage making them easier to pull when harvesting. This short carrot can be sown successionally for an ongoing harvest of delicious almost coreless roots. Later sowings in June produce superbly flavoured, main crop roots which store extremely well. Height: 30cm. Spread: 15cm.
Sow from April to June at 4 week intervals. Sow seed thinly, to avoid need to thin out, 1cm deep in drills 30cm apart. Thin to 2cm if necessary.
