Radish - Poloneza
This is a 'sparkler' type of summer radish producing round, red-skinned roots with a white splash at the root end. It features mild, crisp, white flesh which may show some pink tinge, and is free from pithiness. It is suitable for earlier sowings under glass as well as outdoors, is quick maturing and resists bolting.
Sow from February to March under glass, or from April to August outdoors, at 4 week intervals. Sow seed thinly, 1cm deep in drills 30cm apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 2.5cm apart. Keep plants cool and moist to prevent running to seed. Water ground regularly, especially during dry periods.
