Dwarf Bean - Bush Blue Lake 274
This is a vigorous plant and hugely productive over a long period if picked regularly. The slightly curved, dark green, pencil pods of good flavour are stringless when young. Excellent for freezing.
Sow seed mid-April in pots indoors, plant out from late May, or sow early May to July outdoors. Can also be sown in March for protected growing in a greenhouse and harvest from June. Sow 4-5cm deep in well-prepared soil. Allow 15-20cm between plants and 45cm between rows. Germination and establishment can he poor in cold wet soils, in this case raise plants indoors in modules for later planting out.
