Pea - Alderman
This well known heritage maincrop produces heavy crops of large, curved, dark green pea pods of the highest quality. Each pod of Pea 'Alderman' contains up to 11 succulent peas with a superb flavour. This reliable variety has a tall growth habit that will require supports but is well worth the effort for the huge yields that it produces. Height: 180cm. Spread: 25cm.
Sow from March to June every 10 days for succession. Sow seed 5cm deep in flat-bottomed drills spacing the seeds about 2.5-5cm apart, and in rows 150cm apart. When plants are 1cm tall, erect strong supports at each end of the row and attach pea netting or chicken wire. The pods will be ready to harvest about 12-13 weeks from sowing. Pick regularly for higher yields and to extend the picking season.
