Kale - Starbor F1 Hybrid
This uniform variety can be grown year round on the windowsill for a constant supply of tasty baby leaves. If grown outdoors for a mature crop, Kale 'Starbor' produces delicious blue-green leaves with a superb flavour and texture. The densely curled leaves are extremely winter hardy and stand well for harvesting over a very long period. Height: 40cm. Spread: 45cm.
Sow seeds from March to May outside, or sow and eat all year round as a 'babyleaf' indoors. Sow seeds thinly direct outside or in containers, 13mm deep. Thin as necessary or transplant to 2cm apart for mid sized leaves or to 37cm for larger plants. Keep well watered during dry weather. It can also be sown regularly in pots of seed sowing mix on the windowsill for a continuous supply of 'baby leaves'. If a few plants are missed and not picked as salad leaves, these can be planted into large containers and left to mature as large kale plants for winter use.
