Calendula - Porcupine
This is an exciting new English Marigold with vivid orange, pointed blooms and an attractive quilling that gives a wild, spiky effect. It is wonderfully easy to grow in the border or as bedding. The distinct blooms also make a stunning cut flower.
Sow from April to May. Sow outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 12mm deep, in rows 30cm apart. For spring/summer flowering pot plants, sow in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn. Grow on cool in full light and water sparingly. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 15cm apart. Prefers a light, well-drained soil in full sun.
