Poppy - Plum Pudding
This flower is a similar colour to 'Patty's Plum' but with stronger stems, blooms longer and will often give a second flush of flowers. It is a must for any perennial border.
Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free -draining, damp seed compost. Do not cover seed. Place container in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag and place at a temperature of 15C until after germination which usually takes 10-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination. Transplant seedlings, when large enough to handle, into 7.5cm pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm apart. Later sowings should be overwintered in a cold frame for planting out next spring.
