Pea - Sugar Ann
This is a fine quality sugarsnap pea with round, fleshy, pale green, sweet tasting, succulent pods. It is very early and heavy cropping variety. Either eat immature when stringless but less sweet, or remove string when fully developed. It is ideal raw or in stir fries.
Sow from early April to the end of June, in succession for a long season of picking. Sow seeds in flat drills 15-23cm wide and about 25mm deep. Space the seeds about 4-5cm apart, and allow 70cm between each drill. Protect from birds and pea moth attack when flowering using fine netting. Grow in weed free soil as peas are not easy to weed when growing. Support with twiggy sticks, wire or netting. Water thoroughly, especially when flowers setting, for maximum yield. It is ideal for any fertile soil in full sun.
