Dwarf Bean - Sonesta
This is an early maturing variety, with waxy yellow beans on compact plants. Its pods are slender, straight and stringless, reaching up to 13cm long. It is early to mature with a long cropping period. The plants are also resistant to Common Bean Mosaic Virus and Anthracnose.
Sow seeds from mid April indoors for transplanting. Sow seeds 5cm deep in 7.5cm pots or trays of good free draining, seed compost. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at 18-20C until after germination which takes 7-10 days. Alternatively, sow seeds from late April to July outdoors once the soil has warmed. Sow in groups of 3 seeds at 23cm, 5cm deep and in rows 45cm apart. For indoor grown plants, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for a few days before planting out after all risk of frost, 23cm apart. Hoe regularly and keep plants well watered. Mulch during dry periods.
