Candytuft - Dwarf Fairy Mixed
These are showy plants for borders and bedding, with loads of lightly scented flowers throughout the summer in a wide colour range. They are the ideal last minute border filler, and the dried seedheads also make a decorative dried flower.
Sow seeds outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones. Sow 3mm deep, in rows 30cm apart, or scatter seed in beds or borders as a gap filler and lightly cover over. Germination usually takes 14-30 days. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 23cm apart. Water regularly until plants are fully established. Cut back the plants to remove faded candytuft flowers and maintain a neat, compact habit. The seed heads can be cut and dried for flower arrangements.
