Poached Eggs
This is a much-loved, easy to grow annual with a gentle fragrance that attracts hoverflies, who then feed on troublesome aphids. Bees also love this low spreading carpet of yellow and white blooms. It is a customer favourite, perfect for the front of borders, rockeries and as path edging.
Sow seeds outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground by raking until it is fine and crumbly, removing any large stones. Sow 3mm deep, in rows 30cm apart. When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 15cm apart. The plants prefer a position in full sun with a cool, moist root run making them ideal as an edging for paths.
