Spring Onion - Winter White Bunching
This is a dual purpose onion that resists bulbing up, enabling it to be pulled for a longer period than regular varieties. Spring Onion Winter White Bunching has excellent overwintering qualities, and can be sown either late August for late May pulling or in spring and summer for summer/autumn crops.
Spring onions will grow in any good fertile soil provided it is well drained. Sow seeds from late winter to late summer at 3 weekly intervals. For an early spring crop sow seeds in late summer and overwinter. Sow thinly 6mm deep in drills 15cm apart. No thinning is required. Harvesting can usually start 6-8 weeks after sowing.
