Squash - Winter Festival
A decorative, small-fruited squash, Festival has a marbled outer skin encasing sweet, nutty flavoured, pale orange flesh. The trailing vines of Squash Festival play host to fruits of about 680g, which are also good for long term storage. The fruits are ideal for roasting and baking.
Sow seeds from April to May in 7.5cm pots at 20-25C of a good free draining, damp seed compost, 12mm deep. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which takes 7-10 days. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 9cm apart. Can also be sown direct outdoors once the soil has warmed. Prefers well drained, moist, rich soil in full sun.
