Marrow - Long Green Striped
This variety was highly commended by the Royal Horticultural Society. Marrow Long Green Striped is a very prolific, vigorous and easily grown marrow. This marrow is excellent eaten lightly cooked, freshly picked or is suitable for winter storage.
Sow seeds singly in mid spring 1cm deep in 8cm pots of moist compost. Germination usually takes 7-10 days at 21-24C. Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting outdoors after all risk of frost has passed. Keep the soil moist, water regularly especially in dry weather and give liquid feed every 14 days when the fruits start to swell. It helps to pinch out the growing points of this variety when the shoots are 60-100cm long.
