Climbing Bean - Fasold
Very early to crop, with a long harvest period and decorative mauve flowers. Climbing Bean Fasold produces a huge harvest of superb flavoured, long, fleshy, round, mid-green stringless pods that are slow to develop seeds. Its semi-climbing, less vigorous habit makes it ideal for growing under glass for the earliest crops.
Sow seeds individually in 7.5cm pots at 18-20C from mid-April for transplanting outdoors after all risk of frost. Alternatively, sow outdoors from late April to late July after all risk of frost has passed. Bean seeds can be sensitive to low soil temperatures, so delay sowing until the soil has warmed up. Sow 15cm apart, 5cm deep and in rows 45cm apart, provide support for climbing habit. Hoe regularly and keep well-watered and mulched in dry periods.
