Beetroot - Solo F1 Hybrid
This is a British bred monogerm variety, producing only one seedling per seed cluster, reducing the need of thinning out. The smooth skinned, round roots of Beetroot Solo F1 are ideal as a 'baby beet' or as a mature root, high in sugar content for the sweetest of flavours. It has good resistance to bolting, leaf spot, downy and powdery mildew.
Sow seeds from March to July thinly, 1cm deep in drills 30cm apart. Thin seedlings if necessary to 5cm apart when large enough to handle for 'baby beets', or to 7cm for larger beets. Harvest when roots reach about 4cm in diameter or more. The smaller the roots are more tender. Beet can be stored by lifting the remaining roots; twist off the tops and store in boxes of slightly damp sand in frost-free shed or garage.
