Nipper produces fast-growing baby leeks specially bred to be ready to pick in just 10 weeks from sowing. Pull them at spring onion size for fresh and tasty leeks out of season; with a flavour that’s milder than spring onions, they are delicious in stir fries and salads.
Sow liberally 1-2cm deep in broad drills 30cm apart in soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Keep well-watered during dry weather. Also ideal grown in containers. For baby leeks no thinning should be necessary, if larger stems are required then thin out as necessary.
