The gently prickled leaves make it a good plant to discourage pets and other unwanted visitors away from your prized borders! Like many other South African species, Berkheya plants are very undemanding, simply requiring a sunny spot on free draining soil. Multiple flowers appear in late summer in a silvery shade of soft violet, creating a real wow factor. The stems make unusual fresh or dried cutflowers.
