Gazania - Talent Mixed
This very attractive mixture has delicately cut, silvery-white foliage which makes the plant a pleasure to see, even out of flower. The bright blooms, opening in the sun, come in a range of colours from creams and yellows, to oranges, reds and mauves, and are borne on short stems, making them excellent for windy sites. They make refreshingly different plants for bedding and border edging.
Sow from February to April in pots or trays of moist seed compost and lightly cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite to a maximum depth of 3mm. Place in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag until germination occurs. Put in a warm place at a constant temperature of 18-25C. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. Germination will usually take 14-30 days. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into boxes or 7.5cm pots, and grow on in cooler conditions. When well grown gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in late spring after all risk of frost has passed.
