Convolvulus - Blue Ensign
Brilliant blue flowers with vividly contrasting yellow and white centres grow on neat, bushy and compact plants.
Sow in early spring 3mm deep at 21 -27C in a good seed compost. Soaking the seed for 2 hours in cold water before sowing is helpful. Keep soil damp but not wet, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 5-14 days. They can also be sown where they are to flower during late spring and thinned out to required distance. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 8cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 1-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost 15-23cm apart in a sunny spot.
