Salvia - Transylvanica
This salvia is an effective blue border plant.
Sow from late January to April in a good seed compost, just covering the seed with compost. After sowing seal the seed container in a polythene bag and don't exclude light. Make sure that the compost is always moist but not over-wet. Germination takes place 7-30 days at 18-25C. Transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm pots when large enough to handle, and grow on cool and well-lit approximately 15-18C. In the summer or autumn, plant out where they are to flower 45cm apart in full sun and ordinary well drained garden soil. Cut the stems down to ground level in winter and mulch with compost.
