Cineraria Grandiflora - British Beauty Mixed
This cineraria features neat plants with a rounded and graceful habit, in a brilliant, range of colours. It is an economical way of producing early spring flowering pot plants as they need little more than frost exclusion. Winter temperatures should not exceed 13C and can be as low as 7C. Height: 25.
Sow from spring to late summer at 20-25C in a good seed compost. Sow seed on surface of compost and keep soil damp but not wet. Do not exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 14-21 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm pots and grow in an open cold frame for the summer and shade from strong sun. Move to a cool greenhouse in autumn. Always water with care to prevent water settling on the crown of the plant. Spring sown plants flower in winter and summer sown plants in spring/summer.
