Delphinium - Summer Blues
Yes this is a Delphinium! Attractive petite plants, are cover in a blanket of delightful, sky-blue flowers. Flowering in their first year from sowing, making them perfect for bedding, borders or containers, providing a colourful display over a long summer period.
Sow from late winter to early summer 1.5mm deep in a good seed compost. Make sure the compost is moist but not wet and seal inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 21-30 days at 18-24C. Transplant when large enough to handle into 7.5cm pots. Later plant out 3cm apart into moist but well drained soil in full sun. Seed sown early will often flower the same season. D. cardinale is a short lived perennial.
