This is an excellent free-flowering variety and the bright flowers with their distinctive black blotch making them excellent for brightening borders, patios and tubs. It flowers in spring and summer. Height: 15-20cm.
Sow late winter/spring or mid-late summer 1.5mm deep in good seed compost excluding light as darkness is beneficial. Germination usually takes 14-21 days at 19-24C. Keep the soil just moist and avoid high temperatures which prevent germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow cool. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 1-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 23-3cm apart in most soils, sun or part shade. Summer sowings should be moved to a cold frame and planted out in autumn or early spring.
