Heuchera - Melting Fire
The deeply curled foliage of Heuchera Melting Fire emerges a rich, blood red colour and matures to a dark shade of purple-red. This eye-catching coral flower is strong growing, forming large clumps of foliage with good weather tolerance. Admired for their long season of interest, Heucheras are ideal for adding colourful, semi-evergreen foliage to borders and mixed containers. Height and spread: 40cm.
Sow heuchera from March to June on the surface of a good seed compost and cover with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature of 18-21C or seal it inside a polythene bag. Keep the compost moist but not wet. Do not exclude light as this aids germination which usually takes 21-60 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When heuchera plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant outdoors, 40cm apart, moist, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or semi shade.
