Lavatera - Mont Blanc
This is a delightful variety bedecked with glistening, pure white flowers which have just a touch of pink when in bud. Lower in growth and more bushy than the old varieties, this makes a superb border subject which can even make a temporary flowering hedge. It flowers from mid-summer to autumn. Height: 53-76cm.
Sow from late winter to early spring 1.5mm deep in good seed compost. Make sure that the compost is moist but not wet and seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 15-21 days at 21C. Transplant when large enough to handle into 8cm pots. Grow cool and later plant out 4cm apart into an ordinary but not rich soil in sun and some shelter.
