Sweet William - Indian Carpet Mixed
A dwarf compact variety with a very wide colour range and excellent for bedding. It can be treated either as a biennial or as a half hardy annual to produce flowers the same season usually in around 10 weeks from sowing. Flowers early summer. Height 6in.
For flowering the same year sow in early spring 1.5mm (1/16in) deep in John Innes Seed Compost. Germination usually takes 10-14 days at 13C (55F).
Transplant when large enough to handle into boxes. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 1-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 15cm (6in) apart in a sunny spot on light well drained soil.
For flowering the following year sow thinly in well raked soil in late summer and transplant to their flowering positions in autumn,
