The Cape Aloe is a very attractive succulent. The plant can grow large in a frost free garden with the typical Aloe rosette of leaves. The Aloe flowers with bright yellow / orange flowers from June onwards.
They are tolerant of drought conditions but are not frost hardy.
This plant has many medicinal properties and contains anthraquinone glycosides
Sow the seed in a gritty seed compost, germination at temperatures over 20C will take about 30 days but can take much longer.
