Purslane - Green
This variety produces succulent, spoon-shaped, green salad leaves with juicy stems. The plants grow to around 20cm. The leaves are said to be a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids.
Sow under cover in trays in warmth. Germination takes 1-2 weeks. Or sow direct in drills, throughout spring and summer, and then thin to 30cm spacing. Prefers sunny position in light soils (do not manure). Protect against slugs and snails. Looks good in containers and is very tolerant if kept in partial shade and watered regularly.
